Hi all,
I'm seriously considering joining the club and buying myself an AE86. I currently drive an Evo X 330 SST and whilst the car is simply sublime at everything it does, to be honest it's a bit too good, and therefore doesn't have much character; especially when I compare it to the S2000 I have before it, and the CRX I had before that. So, I think it's time I get back into a fun car again, and at the same time get involved in the community. Greetings to all. Dan |

Well you can not go wrong with AE86 as a drivers car.

Welcome. Driving an AE86 is raw and pure! You'll get a greater sense of speed than with most faster, more modern cars.

Great cars and yes a real drivers car for sure.
Do your research though as they seriously rust and this is always a problem on an AE86. I'd say look to spend £5-6K for something decent and budget to spend around 2K on top of that to get it up to a really good standard. This is what I did (see my thread). This is a good resource for UK stuff: http://www.phpbber.com/phpbb/index.php?m...ghtsixcouk For inspiration look at the Corolla Brotherhood: http://corollabrotherhood.blogspot.com/ There is also a FB page. After you've got your car you can ask to join on ae86irl.com, there is tons of stuff on there too. If you possibly can try and take an AE86 expert to go with you to look at one, there are a few owners around London of course. Other than that look at every detail, where to look for rust because if someone says the car is rust free they are probably lying. Think about what kind of car you want. Do you want a car to drift that is stripped out, or do you want more of a road car? If it's the latter check when you look at cars to see if they've previously been drift cars and owners have chucked the interior back in. Be careful, do your research and hopefully you'll get a nice car. 1985 Sprinter Trueno GT Apex 2013 GT86 Miltek Exhaust, Injen Induction. |

No worries, Dan, you're welcome. It wasn't all that long ago that I was in the same position and I got a lot of help too.
Let us know how you get on and any questions, ask. 1985 Sprinter Trueno GT Apex 2013 GT86 Miltek Exhaust, Injen Induction. |

Dan, try and get over to Awesomefest on 29-31st July. Should be a good event and there will be some AE86's there. There should be a good variety of cars, plus it ought to be a good event. See Driftworks for details.
