Got my new rims with the post last week..to bad that I can't seem to produce any pictures that do them justice.. They're in excellent condition!

I'll be running these under the rolla in daily driver trim..they're not to wide (6.5J) so I can run 185 series tires. I prefer narrower tires for daily use because of the increased steering feel, improved straightline stability (wide tires tend to chase road irregularities) and their aqua-planning resistance.
For a light car like this (700kgs) 185 is already slightly overkill. They'll tuck under the TE-27 flares nicely so she won't suffer much from stonechips. Autocross duty will probably see her sporting some steamroller rims around the 13x8J mark with 235 slicks.

Weight of the rims was a nice surprise..just 4.9kgs!! Not spectacular, but about 2-3 kgs lighter then ordinary rims..the Z-rims on the picture weigh 7.5kgs

My god... HOW? are they that much smaller than an AE86 (980-1000kg) or even a TE27 (925kg according to google)

My KE20 weighs 765 kg.
If you remove some bits and bobs, it could easily end up around 700kgs.

Altough a 4A-GE is bigger than a 3K, my guess is that it won't be that much heavier Smile

Dropping in a well built VHPD rover K-series engine would drop the weight from 760 to about 740kg's. Lightweight seats and removed interior are worth another 5kgs. Insulation about 10kgs. Still some kg's to be found here and there, through use of carbon, glassfibre and lexan..that would get the car down to 700kg's@220hp.. Naturally aspirated..equivalent of a 300hp hachi.

The bodies are made of cardboard though, rear suspension is seriously compromised, not suited for much more then 100hp if you want to go through corners...dragracing is a different matter all together though. Drop in a 3TGTE (almost bolt in) and these puppies launch on their rear wheels...has been VERY tempting..

or a well built 3T-C would do the same Smile
