Nz Style in Australia
new page because lots of pics coming!
alright, bit of an update.. I spotted a yellow ADM AE86 for sale with mint blue interior! so i decided to buy it! but firstly, was looking for zenki trueno grill, a guy was selling silver panda bumper grill and eye lids cheap so i bought it all ![]() anyway, the yellow sprinter was in melbourne, which is very far away from brisbane where i live i worked 6:30am - 12:30am on the saturday, didnt get much sleep, flew out at 7:55 sunday morning, arrived quarter past 11 the guy picked me up from the airport in a red gt86.. disappointing he drove slowly the whole 45 min trip back to his place, but im not particularly fond of the new "86" anyway.. got to see the car, pretty happy with it! passenger seat isnt good and drivers seat isnt perfect but overall im pretty happy with it ![]() LOOK AT THE FLAMES! ![]() he also had brand new kouki corner lights and a mint foglight model kouki grill which he sold to me for $290 which was good of him.. got the factory seats, stereo and steering wheel with it too, some brand new door hinges and a pack of suspension bushes ![]() then i left his place and headed up to see a friend, then took off to the other side of melbourne to pick up the some wheels. this is how my mind works, "wheels for sale in melbourne, pick up only, hey im going to melbourne, BUY THEM" they are weds southern ways mesh, 15x8.5 -10 all round ![]() ![]() centres are slightly concave which is pretty cool then on my way home! left about 2:30pm drove into the night, only stopping for fuel.. so happy the car came with a cd player! ![]() cos i drive such long hours at work ive learnt to manage fatigue quite well. i can let the car drive itself with very minimal input, basically drive semi-conscious, just alert enough to keep an eye on what’s happening and just enough energy reserved to be able to react to something unexpected round 3:30am i realised i had been on the road for 13 hours and awake for almost 22, i was driving into a storm and the car was aqua-planing a little in some places. i could feel my concentration slowly slipping away so i decided i better pull over and sleep at the next town woke up, sunny as, got back on my way ![]() ![]() got it home in the arvo, took a few pics ![]() ![]() a/c that works! ![]() and the main reason for purchase, the interior, so epically clean! not perfect, but fuck, 1983.. heres a pic of my interior as it came in the car as a comparison ![]() and the new cars interior ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() sweet! worked tuesday, wednesday, boss said have thursday off cos it was quiet due to all the rain in the "sunshine state" lately.. perfect timing to do the interior! woke up and my legs were so sore, could hardly move, had only had 2 days off work in 76 days, guess the 19 hour drive finally ruined me.. was supposed to work friday, woke up at 6, so sore, went back to sleep.. woke up at 9:30, called my boss, he said stay home, all good.. thought i better get into it so got started ![]() ![]() ![]() thats as far as i got, and that took 3 hours, was in so much pain.. my flatmate had been spray painting gundam toys in the garage.. but i didnt know he was painting inside the garage with the door down, so naturally my whole car was covered in red overspray, sigh.. so gave it a wash and rolled it back inside ![]() ![]() then today after the rain in the morning, there was a little blue sky in the arvo! legs still hurt but being active at work has helped a bit, so got stuck into it again ![]() got all the dash and bits out, changed the clutch master (tired to change the slave too but its different aus -> jap), got the carpet out, wasnt too bad underneath.. thought itd be paint stripped and rusty cos of the clutch fluid but its sweet.. so few coats of degreaser cleaned it up nicely ![]() interior ![]() so yeah, coming along! got a mate coming over tomorrow if the weather holds out, will be much quicker with two people.. take the interior straight out of the yellow into the white, put all this stuff into the yellow then for sale! already got a dude waiting with cash, but i keep saying im busy cos i dont want him to see it with the interior cos later it'll be different.. my interior isnt too bad, but its not the best either.. road trip was awesome, mint interior will be awesome, mesh wheels are awesome, pretty happy so far! it was worth the drive and the effort cheers guys! ![]() ![]() slpery.wordpress.com |

been working every afternoon until dark trying to get this interior sorted so I can sell the yellow one.. finally got it all together tonight.. aussie interiors are soooooo brittle from the heat, only snapped one piece, the drivers a pillar bit in half, but its hardly noticable.. also absolutely shattered the clock surround! even using the fail safe method of removal.. oh well, bit of glue..
pics! starting ![]() ![]() all out, then re-assembly ![]() ![]() ![]() rear right seat belt bolts were finger tight :/ had been repaired on the inside on the drivers side rear quarter.. theres a bit of rust inside at the back of the roof but apart from that real clean.. no crash damage, rails are straight, good clean base all assembled (pics are bad cos dark) ![]() ![]() ![]() then swapped the part on the body where the bonnet latches into and i wanted to swap the little plastic clip that holds the bonnet stay. as the yellow car has air-con the condenser was in the way, so out comes the headlight, park light and grill ![]() still no room, but persistence! ![]() all thats left to do tomorrow is swap the struts in the hatch and perhaps swap the pedals over then its ready to sell, got someone coming to look at it tomorrow arvo, has been waiting for long time and has cash so who knows.. even though i knew when i bought it id be selling again im still a bit reluctant, grown a bit attached to the yellow! more to come tomorrow slpery.wordpress.com |

been a bit busy lately so hadnt done anything to the white one, was sitting as a pile of bits..
decided yesterday to get it done! because im moving house this week and i didnt want to have to move the car and the interior seperately.. so finished work at 3 yesterday, got home around 4, worked until 12:30-1am putting it all back together! got home from work today, gave the interior a good wipe down, its so nice to sit inside, almost like new! i really like blue interior i previously sold my front and rear bumper to the guy that bought my other white AE86, he ended up selling the car without the bumpers and i saw them advertised online so i bought them back yesterday too.. got a few photos with the bumpers back on and with kouki grille (which sold today along with the brand new corner lights i had) ![]() ![]() definitely looks more modern but i think i prefer early grill ![]() interior shots ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() since i had it all apart i put jap cluster in when i re-assembled ![]() i want to start driving it again soon! i will need to change the wheels and make it higher for it to be legal ![]() but im very happy! ![]() slpery.wordpress.com |

sold the yellow sprinter last night!
![]() but first, last night i came across a deal that was too good to pass up, so even though i said no more parts i had to buy it.. kouki headlights, parklights, zenki grille, kouki bar, mounts indicators and zenki lip ![]() ![]() a man i know bought in a levin in his last container, he wanted to sell the as parts.. had carbs, i was keen for the motor, box, dif etc for my sprinter so i went up to have a look as it was still in car running.. after seeing it, hearing it, sitting in it, driving it and a lot of thought i decided i would be better off buying the car complete.. i was previously going to make my adm a track car hence buying suspension etc, but with no crash history, no rust, one lady owner, now mint interior, would be a shame to wreck it so it works out well! anyway, pics and details! its a 1983 Corolla Levin GT-Apex ![]() ![]() body is fairly decent, it has been resprayed in a white pearl.. the exact specs on the car are a little hazy as all there is to go by is a translation from Japanese it has a smallport 4age, trd 272/272 cams, trd 0.8mm headgasket, mikuni 44mm carbs, 4-2-1 extractors, toda flywheel, ae101 clutch, trd lsd, ae101 front brakes, coilover suspension, strut braces, sway bars, will get a better idea of what it has later ![]() ![]() car has black interior, some genuine some painted, brides, digi dash etc.. have worked out a deal with craig for some parts to be taken off etc, all going to plan should be picking up on sunday, will update with more pics and details then yahoo! slpery.wordpress.com |

im trying to make my sprinter legal so i can daily drive it again, love riding the motorbike but sometimes you need a car, groceries, car parts, when its raining etc.. still had the tyres left over from the mk ii so put them on the casablanca and chucked them on the car
![]() ![]() doesnt look too bad, will grab some better pics later and check if its 100mm picked up the levin! i brought the mesh, the kouki headlights, parklights and zenki grille i just bought up with me, put the mesh/lights etc on, loaded it up onto the trailer ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() got it home, it was dark, was fun getting it off the trailer by myself.. put the lip on it ![]() ![]() better pics later when i get time, happy and proud i managed to get the car! am going to the race track on wednesday 3rd april, my first time! i will share some pictures and videos when i get back ![]() slpery.wordpress.com |
