I can confirm it!
 I once had a dinner with some friends and gave them a ride in the Trueno. One of them was a Spanish girl and she was really amazed that the Japanese car was called Thunder and she was having a ride in the thunder! Also if you search on trueno on images.google.com you will come across some spanish Captain Trueno comics.
