PC problem, NEED HELP!!!
Ok, in my PC at home (Pentium 3 @ something), I use Windows98 Angry

I have 2 USB ports (USB 1.0 I guess).

In one of them i have connected the Modem,
and I use the second one for my USD memory stick.

I tried to connect severall USB HUBS, that convert 1 usb port to 4.

I tried to different hubs, both USB2.0 and none of them worked... Angry

I thought, "ok, they oer USB2.0, my pc has USB1.0, they are not combatible"

Today, when I found a USB 1.1 HUB, I thought that will do.

Guess what?
That's not working either Angry

Devices alone work fine, so ports also work fine.
Probably the computer dont recognizes the HUB.

Anybody knows why????

What's the make and model number of the hub? It's been a while since i've used win 98 but chances are you may need to install some drivers for it to be used.

you'll need windows 98SE
if you don't have the SE version it probably won't work.

else:

what kind off devices do you connect to the HUB?
A printer is no problem at all for a hub but some devices that doesn't have their own power supply needs the power out of the USB port. 4 devices like this means it won't work unless the HUB has an adapter.[/b]

No clue about 98(SE)... Upgrade to 2k?

DJexor might be right about the powered vs unpowered hub thing.
If the things you are connecting to the hub are unpowered and the hub is unpowered, you might get a problem very fast. If the hub is powered, it can power the devices that are attached to it by itself.

I have a hub with powersupply. If I unpower it I still can use all devices which have it's own powersupply, but not the ones without powersupply (e.g. memorysticks) unless they are the only device on the hub.

In my test fit, the memory stick was the only device on the hub Angry

Hmmm, that's weird. It should have enough power for it... Undecided
I know the usb-hubs without powersupply are actually meant for usb 2.0, so perhaps they are usb 2.0 only? Dumb question
