Power steering rack damage?
Someone raised a valid point with me today. If I remove the pump from my power steering and there is no fluid going round, is it likely to cause damage? Does the fluid lubricate anything of importance inside the rack?

Its best to keep oil in the rack to lubricate it, just join the two sides with a pipe otherwise the steering will be very heavy
