Refurbish black plastic - how?
I just recived my 86 from the paintshop Nice fresh Super White II color. But all the black plastic, frontgrill, rear lights (whitelines) windowtrim ect. looks like shit on the new fresh paint
Can I refurbish the plastic or are the only option, paint or buy new ones? I really really not want to paint it glossy black. Project AE86 now begun. Refurbish black plastic - how?
I don't think oil or any other spary-on products will do the trick. It's hard plastic and its like it been matt in the sun. I though about a polish or something like that.

Light sanding and matte black spray is also an option.

I've seen cooked lineseed oil used to great effect for this exact purpose. You could try it out on some small bit and see if it works for you.

You could try heating it gently with a "heat gun". If that doesn't work I know for a fact that there is a blueish sticky goo that you rub on the plastic to make it like new. I just can't remember the name of if right now.

Thanks. I will try to polish it with 3M Extra Fine compound. It works on plastic headlamps.
If this dosn't works, I will try to heat it, or a last solution must be paint it matt black. Project AE86 now begun. 3M cutting compound is awesome but make sure you wet the mop a lot. Its a patience job but from what i´ve seen in the projects your car diserves it.
