Repair or swap safety devices?
Since both my seatbelts are only working 90% of the time I'd like to repair them, but is that advisable? It is a safety device, and should I tamper with such a thing or is it better to replace the whole seatbelt?
I'd like to know what the users here would you do... 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

These are inertia seat belts I presume? i.e. standard ones, whats wrong with them, are they locking up stopping you from getting any slack out of them, or are they not locking if you pull hard on them, like they should.
If its not feeding out any slack you might find loosening the bolt and making sure they pointing pefectly vertical, as sometimes the little ball bearings inside dont like being off vertical, if its anything else just get new ones, or good ones of a car down the breakers, most seatbelts from other cars will fit |

They don't lock up. So I guess the locking mechanism is not working atm. Perhaps looking if it's clogged can't hurt.
I've looked at them, and they don't look the same as the ones I have in the mitsu, so the model is a bit weird. Atleast they should work the same. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Yesterday I've tried to see if I can fix them, but apparently it's a closed housing, so I'd guess it will be a big task... 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
