Ring & pinion ratio.
Hi all.
What would be the best ratio for daily use and sometimes drift and track ?

depends on the track and what you understand under daily use. most use stock or 4.7 in my case a 4.7 is out of the question as long trips on the motorway are already annoying with the 4.3 due to the high revs.

Ok. I think i will buy 4.7. My diff is still whining after changed my bearings so i guess it comes from my ring and pinion.
Any advice about a good brand not too expensive ?

no no i think its too sort 4.77 for daily use i use in my corolla 4.3 for daily its perfect

The crownwheel and pinion are installed as a set, and create a wear
pattern (contact patch) on each other after many years and thousands
of kilometres. Once the differential has been dismantled for repair, it can
be difficult to get the contact patch exactly matched. That is the usual
cause of whining. Same thing applies if you only install a new or used
pinion to an existing crownwheel.

Worn or loose (lack of preload) pinion bearings can cause whining, and
even just a worn out crownwheel and pinion. If the gears appear to be
in good condition, you could try adjusting the contact patch, or just put
up with the noise, and hope that it settles after a while.

I should set up the ring much closer of the pinion ? With the same method showed in the factory service manual ?

Ring & pinion ratio.
4.3 is ideal for daily, you will have good acceleration and top speed, with highway drivability.
For higher powered AE86 4.1 is even better.

With 4.778 anything above 100 km/h will be annoying.
