no, you have to remove the old stuff. bare metal even rusted is fine. did my gastank with it after blasting it and came out perfect, will make pictures of it.

Holy crap, I appreciate a good project, but this thread has caused my PC to lock up 2 times today, and I have a reasonably up to date PC.

tried it at another pc and slow as hell so changed the size of the pics from ~1.6MB a piece to 10x less should go *cough* a lot quicker now, sorry for that!

good remark, I bought it this way. I like the place it's in, always cool air. I dislike the place it's in because you can't service the filter easily (if not impossible without dismounting the frontbumper).
so, gonna remove the filter, put it on eBay for $100, and use that spot for alu piping with a duct to the front somewhere. under the hood there will be a box where the tube ends so the engine will still get fresh colder air then under the hood as warm air equals lower power.
