Just out of interest, I read an article a while back, not sure how true it is, but most semi-synthetic oils actually are mineral oils with just a few additives. So I wonder how much difference there is between those..

hey ivan it was gonne work .,...... but the engine was lazier than the one in ibm's car.

I drive full synth in my rebuild car and theprez will go run on full synth after have run a couple 1000 on semi synth. Its just better Smile

If the engine dies its just a bad engine.

Btw i still have an 7mge lambda sensor left somewhere here are you interested?

It may be a bad engine, but who cares as long as it runs fine on mineral oil and doesnt burn oil by the gallon? Now I've spent 4 times the regular amount of money on oil on an engine I just swapped in with all new wear items.(+-400 euro's spent). Only to have it progressively start consuming more and more oil (people usually stay well behind me on the road because of the oil-stench). It's totally pointless to switch oils, an old engine has little use for full synthetic because the damage is already done.

I will personally stay well away from full-synth on old engine's in the future.

back from the dead, had too much time to invest in the RX-7's and the garden is empty now, guys collected the Hachi and towed it away.

the Hachi is @ the rust hospital at the moment being restored.
just had a phonecall and the Wiegers cage has just been fitted but many things before that of course.

doors, trunk, trunklid, hood, roof, wheelarches, underside... 'well what not' is being welded and repaired/replaced.

front fenders were too rotten to safe and I ordered some plastic stuff as a fender (which is 25mm wider and will address that later (rims!)).

furthermore, some poly bushings came in some days ago and those will replace the stock bushings.

and the black interior is all out (except dash which is blue) and goes to Robokill.

that anti-noise stuff in the interior goes out also.

oh, ordered some flares yesterday for the wheelarches to get better traction (rims!). tried to order some plastic fenders from MCNSPORT but they are out of business.

thought there were Koni yellow's all around but @ the front there are stock ones, well, they are not yellow! those @ the rear are rotten Koni yellow's and after a chat with NoHachi I will be looking for some Tokico HTS long strokes in a while.

not regarding the state of the shocks some RS-R AE86 springs which came out of Japan through Rinkya will be fitted which will lower the car some mm/inches (forgot the distance and springrate Banging head ) to see if I like them.

chassis will be rust treated from front to back, chassis will be seam welded and whereever possible ligthened.

the Hachi will be uses for traveling and circuitdays (racing). so the Hachi stays with me... ehhh us. die-hard rotorhead with a weakness for this Toyota Confused
either way, we like the car and decided it stays beside the RX-7's. and not going to put a 13B-REW in it! oh well, maybe someday Evil

either way, will get the pics tomorrow from the Google Android phone they are on, will take the Windows® laptop from my girlfriend to get them off and place them here to show the progress/state he/she is in.

loads of rust, when removing anything from the body more holes and rust appear Smile
very happy with the result untill now.

Looking good! Smile
Oh well reminds me, I´ll have to do the same thing to my AE86, it has less rust holes, but definatly work required...

i suggest you use POR15 or KBS to treat the rust holes, it's magic stuff for... ehhh against rust.
http://www.kbs-coatings.eu/product_info....ucts_id=40
that's the stuff i put on everything (well, almost everything) to seal rust and stop the progress. probably they will send to Germany.
used the well knowm Tectyl in the past but it breaks when hit so water and air can eat the metal and this KBS stuff prevents that.
just my thoughts Smile

Can you paint the KBS underseal directly over the old underseal ?
