Struts question.
Hey there.
Does anybody here know how much CM i have to cut out of the front struts to make my Tokico HTS shock fit in there without using spacers? I have everything installed under the car (spacered) so i cant have a quick check. I have some extra struts that i want to make shorter. Tnx. Struts question.
You don't want to run that low I think...probably 6cm shortened strut.

Struts question.
I thougt it was something like 6 cm but im not sure if i cut 6 an i needed to cut 5 than the shock wont fit.
When i lowered my car only the back came down. The cool thing is that i dont have problems with the speedbumps now but i think its weird that only the back of the car came down. This is what it looked like before lowering the car. After lowering the front stayed the same. This is how it looks now. Why did the back of the car came down but not the front?? I think its becouse i spacered it an didnt cut the struts. when i look at pictures of other hachis with the same setup they look way lower at the front. Whats going on here. Struts question.
Cut it 4cm above the perch and use about 1,5cm spacers (a few M24 rings or bigger car rings). Don't cut it more, otherwise youre springs will get to much pretension. Mine is bit lower, also HTS but with TRD 8kg/mm
Tip: use a pipe cutter |

I use B-tune Swift springs 8kg, they should drop the same as TRD's Ow. and i just bought a pipe cutter i allready thougt of that. Struts question.
No, you cut above the pearch, so the spring will not drop.
The only lowering can be because the pretension you get in the spring by lowering the shock. Now you're springs will be free when you jack the car up. The strutcase shortening is because of the the better working range for the shock, basically you don't lower the car more with it. But when i see you're car, mine is about 1-2cm's lower i guess (on 195-50-15 tires also stripped). You can lower more if you shorten the strut a bit below the perch, but then you can better take some coilovers or grind of a ring of the spring. |

Struts question.
hey rutger, you had some spacers from tokico right?
Why dont you shorten these spacers (easy job) and you can follow the coilover conversion at 4ag forum. 2cm above "schotel" and 2 cm under "schotel"? 5/2018 BMW F22 Coupe 1/1985 Toyota AE86 Levin Coupe |

Struts question.
Yep i got the tokico spacers.
I will see what i can do and how we solve everything this weekend. I think i will go for the 2 cm above 2 cm under solution. I will also have a talk with the guy who is gonna make the struts for me an take the info you guys gave me with me. So ik can hear how he thinks about it. Tnx guys.
