Speed Hero Wheels
Yesterday Speed Hero Wheels launched their company with two new retro wheel designs and I am stunned by the design:
The wheels can be ordered in any popular bolt pattern, including 4x114.3 and from 6J to 15J wide! It's just mind boggling that some wheel nuts (pun intended) designed a retro wheel and actually began producing it. They ship the wheels worldwide and they seem to be an Australian company. You can find their website here: https://speedherowheels.com/ And their previous shop seems to be here: https://speedhero.ca Anyone knows if they are legit? 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

No idea if they are legit but nice to see they didn't just do a blatant copy but rather an interpretation of existing old wheels. Pitty they won't be legal here unless someone throws a bunch of cash at the authorities :/
EDIT: you could send an email to Shockworks.com.au maybe he knows them. AE86 ex-daily |

I have dropped a bunch of questions in their mailbox, including whether they have any compliance done. But even if they would, I don't think it would include Tuv or similar.

Very cool, but eye-watering expensive! I specced a set I'd like, but at 3500 dollar for a set I quickly disposed of the idea of new wheels...

Yes I did, but by the time they are here, it's a 2000 euro set of wheels. I really like them, the fact they are fully customizable is making them a bit more expensive then a normal set of wheels, but still... 2k is a lot of money.

Funnily enough my "poverty" spec 15 inch, 7J wide would also end up with a similar price. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Speed Hero Wheels
Judging by what the interweb reveals, the driving force behind SpeedHero wheels
is a graphic designer and drift enthusiast. He has apparently collected a group of fellow enthusiasts to help with marketing and contracted a wheel manufacturer (possibly in Japan) to actually make the wheels. Such a venture is going to have substantial upfront costs, and will need to pull in a lot of orders / pre-orders / deposits to get the business away to a sound start. The prices are not dissimilar to quality new "old school" Japanese wheels and the designs are brilliant interpretations of classic styles. I don't know that I would risk damaging these beautiful things by using them for track work, but I would sure love to put a set on a show car Cheers... jondee86 The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Yes I had similar ideas as his instagram account is full of renderings and graphic designs and he's showing a couple of finished products as well. The price is indeed not unreasonable, but it's still a hefty price once they arrive here and receive import tax on top of it.
And I'd love to get a set of V-type for the Carina. And still no reply to my questions so far... 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
