Spindle dimensions, backing plate bolt pattern
I`ve been trying to figure out whether my spindles are OEM or not so I can determine what struts I need when converting to adjustable shocks w/coilovers, but I cannot find OEM dimensions ANYWHERE
I`ve been looking through google search results for ae86 spindle and ae86 caliper brackets for the better part of 24 hrs now and my eyes hurt, so I give up and ask here Smile

My own measurements for the spindle is 112mm from the tip of the threaded end to the end of the spindle (where there is still clear metal).

Caliper backplate mounting dimensions on the spindle:

Anyone knows what kind of spindles these might be? I can only determine that they do not look like AE86..

WTF is that?!? Wink

Looks like someone welded the mounting bit of a random hub carrier (could be anything!), to what looks like a Toyota (not AE86!) bottom of a shock+ spinle to use coilovers.

I thinkt I´ve seen the square caliper mount pcd on TA22 celica before?

What brakes is this thing running, looks not factory either...

Is that a rallye car?

can't say about the strut but the brakes look like genuine AP (TRD) group A calipers Respect!

You are correct about the brakes and origin of the car, read my project thread for more details, I keep bragging to my project thread only Tongue

I need to know what hub carrier this is so that I can get corresponding struts w/hub carrier when I build proper coilovers, I hope to avoid getting just some AE86 struts (I know the original ae86 hub carrier is different from what sits on my ae86) as I would need custom caliper brackets+custom brake bells for the discs etc, but identifying these spindles has been mindf*cking the f*ck out of me for the past few days and I no longer know what the back of the front of the side is from top Tongue

steering arms look stock, so there aren't a lot of options.
The bottom part can only be old Celica (TA22/TA40) or old 1600 Corolla (TE21/27 and MAYBE TE31/TE51/TE71).

All the other cars have a different spacing at the bottom and different steering arms which won't come close to the original geometry.

After a bit of google i found this:

RA23 calliper mounts LOOK to be square, but i can't find a decent pic of them.

But the shock mount is not the way it was done original, so the shock could be ANYTHING.

Yeah I figured the shock mount was different (seeing as its been welded and modified from here and all the way to Japan)

I too saw that picture but I wasnt sure whether it was square Smile

Thanks a lot for your input guys, I havent been able to make sense out of these @ssr@ped struts Banging head

what is the spacing between the 2 shock mount bolts?
If stock (ish) top mounts are used, the shock must be Toyota, as they use the same way of fixing the top mounts on all of the cars. It could be Starlet, it could be fwd corolla it could be Supra etc. etc.

I.e if the shocks are modified OEM toyota items, just get the corresponding OEM shocks and slam inserts+coilover sleeves on those instead? Smile
