Summer tires for AE86 - give some hints :)
Hi everyone.
I am looking for new tires for my AE86 have anyone idea of a good choice of street/everyday use tires ? I am looking on some Bridgestone Potenza RE-720 tires that i will possibly buy. Have anyone some reference on those ? 85' AE86 GT coupe lifetime project since 2005 |

RE-720s are ok. If not doing any track or similar stuff I would buy quieter tires with less grip then the high performance stuff. Nice noise reduction and the grip reduction give a nice increase in fun production on everyday roads.
T1R is probably the cheapest tire in our sizes. Bit too grippy, but too big a bargain to ignore. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Near stock miata 1.6l (115-120hp), 700 euro's worth of suspension crap, 900kg and EBC yellowstuff pads. 195-50-15 R1R tires. Zandvoort 2:09.3
So yeah, they are kinda grippy. Crap below 5deg c and probably not good for more then 4k kms. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Got some R1R's on my Track setup. They work great, give a nice grip and still work very well in the wet.
Rubber is definately on the soft side! http://monkeymagic86.wordpress.com |
