banpei Wrote:About the dash: are you going to swap the dash itself as well? Actually... I WAS going too... but now it looks like I'll be using the AE71 dash and having an AE86 cluster fitted to the AE71 dash. Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! out in the sun again........
.........waiting for "her" appointment, she'll have an "experienced hand"; clean her... strip her... fix her.... remove all the dimples and bumps, and lay white pearl upon her . I'm strongly leaning to making the parking light/side markers both parking light/sidemarker AND directional signal. The purpose is to have SOME sideways elumination/warning when turning. It will also allow a less clutered front end Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! OST Porting service - http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19991 |

Surreptitious.....
Had a brainfart........ I'm in need of a tach that will be capable of the rpm my engine will spin. The AE71 tach doesn't do it... 8k, the AE86 cluster doesn't do it... also 8k. . . . . .
.... not sure if you(Euro peeps) know of the FX16... Its cluster has a tach that goes to 9k...... Soooo, my AE71 dash will be fitted with an AE89 FX16 instrument cluster.... Here is what the tach looks like... Well, that is just one issue to overcome. Surreptitious is now in the body shop. Doors are off to rebush hinges.... Windows are out, so that we can fit zenki glass into a kouki car...(yep... zenki/kouki in xE7x cars as well)... All the emblems have now been removed, except the "GT". Fog lamp mounts are being fabricated for those Hella DE2000 lamps. So far the budget is still within sane perspective. All the above work, AND white pearl paint - under $2300.00 More to come....... Hehehehe....... update! See the above FX16 tach....
Now look at my "new", one of a kind xE7x cluster... Now I've got to find a 125 mph, and or a 200 kph speedo. Anyone got one that looks like the 85 mph unit??? Other work to post as well... as some of you may have seen in my "HELP!" thread, the car is in the body shop... here are a few more pics.. more to come. Dan - You can | .... Surreptitious.....
Well..... it finally arrived.
One completely new engine management system. the large box(bottom left) is the 341B2 engine computer, the middle sized box is the coilpaks, the small box is the low ohm injector driver. Other items in this photo; one custom cam sensor, one custom single row crank pulley with crank pick up wheel, one custom crank pick up sensor mount, all new engine sensors pre attached to the pre-labelled wiring harnesses.... and wow... what a harness!!! A few more detailed shots of the custom parts....... All of the parts are now here to get the engine in and wired so Surreptitious can come to life Now I just need the car back from the body shop. Surreptitious.....
A bit more news.........
This may be premature... but I don't think so... Many trials and tribulations about getting wheels for this project. Air Stages... TOM'S.... Well, 3 days ago I stumbled across a set of somewhat rare Drag 902 wheels. 15 x 6.5 +22. They are 1/2" wider than the 15" Supras(while being almost 3#s lighter!), 2mm more positive offset, means 3/8" more lip???? Here they are... I believe they will provide Surreptitious with a proper stance.... Although the wheels may be premature... the body work progresses...... Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! Well... I won the auction on the wheels ... now it'll be 3 months till I see them Ahhh the pleasures of Yahoo Japan
I was able to purchase the Hella DE2000s from Nico in Belgium(he owns a TA60, and a RS41) My "new" DE2000s are on the way! The FOHA spoiler should be into the US postal system this week, delivery 2 or 3 days after that. The bodywork is progressing... working the foglamps and the "new" bumper/bomber bar parts into place The process of trim refinishing Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! Ok, body work is done... she is taking paint.
This is Toyota 051, Diamond Pearl White. It goes down in 3 stages, the white... (you see below), then the pearl, and finally the clear. I expect the chassis back in my garage in a week. No tail lamp gaskets exist for this anymore.... so new ones were made! ...and I'll have a pattern, and may make them if there is enough demand! earliest stages of the custom bumper... notice how it follows the shape of the nose, and fits tighter than most.... More to come! Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! OST Porting service - http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19991 |
