Nothing new over @ Loynings yet

Still waiting......... Sad Sad

It isn't exactly the busy season, and Loyning's tuner should be back in town this week......

The one lesson that keeps coming back from this build is patience.

My desire for a "new" car requires patience.

so what do I do.... instead of getting a Grant wheel, or a local Nardi, or Momo, I of course let my desire dictate the future... and I buy a Momo from YJ Confused: Blush Confused:

Why??? I'm not sure, I'll stand in front of a mule later and let it kick me a few times to see if I figure out why.

I think it might be because this time I got a "deal" The wheel should only cost me $35.00. The problem is the wait, and the costs. I expect the wheel to cost me a total of about $100-$120 once all the costs(YJ and other "fees", and freight) are factored in

Above is Surreptitios's Momo Fighter. The Momo Fighter was available about 5 years back. I fell in love with it back then. So, now, it looks like I need a Momo hub for an AE71.........

psssssst, I think I've bought it... I do not yet have confirmation from my YJ purchaser........

No offense, but that steering wheel is hideous.. Do you use it with that centrepiece installed (the part of it that is ruining the looks)?

ahhhhh, yes.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder..... I DIDN'T get the bid in... so I'm still on a wheel hunt......

BUT.........

This is her first dyno run.

141whp @ 7468, 108#s wheel torque @ 6127rpm.

Engine numbers(back calculated by their dyno) 164hp @7468, 128ft/# 6127rpm.

It is "running"..... There is an idle problem, I ether spend big $$$$ for them to find it, or I bring her home and find it with a few friends. Initial thoughts are a leak under the intake side of the engine.... might be a bad gasket... anything as of now is speculation. BUT she is running so I can get it road worthy, finish the swap (get the GTS diff in) and then bring her back to be properly tuned.

Some specifics.... this pull is only to 7496 rpm, there appears to be no more map above here, this will be remedied once the idle issue is resolved and she goes back for further tuning. The a/f appears to be nearly perfect with a 12.5 average. Loynings dyno also measures car speed(good to 200mph), and Surreptitious is good to 141mph

Video of the pull to follow......... http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j143/o...V00077.flv - (4th gear pull)

Quote: Btw... there are a few guys @ Loynings who think I"ll be planting close to 160 @ the wheels, I'm no where near as optimistic, I believe to keep it emissions friendly, I won't be able to break 145. BUT.... 145 emissions friendly wheel hp from a 4AGE is pretty darn good.

OH......... hp isn't my overall goal with this build... my desire is to boost torque to blacktop levels (about 110-115 ft/#s) If I can plant 110 ft/#s, my goal will be met

New tuner... she's up and running, idling EVEN! The above dyno is showing some improvement, torque is still well above 90#/ft for 4500 rpm... not bad since my old car(my black AE86) only got to 90#/ft at peak(rememebr measured @ the wheels)! The tuner has managed to bump torque to close to 112 #/ft.... thats a boost of over 20#/ft and pretty darn close to a blacktop.....

145 hp isn't bad, especially for "only" 7500. The engine isn't fully broken in... we'll get her broken in and come back to set the rev limit @ 8400, and with a bit leaner fueling, 150 whp is definately in the sights

just to refresh your memory... this is 10.75 to 1 CR(attained w/10 to 1 pistons and cutting the head), with a 264 type camshaft. bluetop internals inside a redtop(high comp) block and head with a "clip and flip" smallport intake - not a cut and shut

Been a while....

She has plates on her... I've done a few rides/runs with her, gradually getting her broken in.

I want to thank assassin10000(Andrew), he helped solved a small vacuum leak that has been a bother since I got her up and running. It appears that the cam cover breather air passage, inside the plenum, goes along the plenum, and bypasses the throttle body. This is fine in an afm equipped engine, but NOT in a MAP equipped engine! In a MAP equipped engine, this becomes a vacuum leak. By removing the factory T/B gasket, and installing a homemade one without the bypass hole... it solved my small vacuum leak!!!!

Going on further.... the car is back @ Davids(my body guy in Beaverton) getting the overspray removed, getting the flaws in the paint removed, getting some misc damage repaired, getting the FOHA's installed, and as evidence from my recent post in the classifieds, the door glass is getting properly installed.

Along with all the touch up........ I've realized that the E7 doors are just tooooo steep to mount the Hella mirrors and still see anything....

So, the Hella mirrors are not going on, and in their place I've decided on simple, yet effective SPA GT mirrors
