Damn, if I had known it washim I would have talked to him about a certain Skyline in his possesion... His Cedric 130 was parked right behind my Carina! Wink

The A6 Celica/Carina topic
Hello there.

I'm experiencing some problems with my water temperature with the TA62 (3T engine). When its in opertaing temperature, its getting very high - nearly boiling tempearure. It never reaches that temperature, but goes between 70% and 95%. I chaged the thermostat - did not helped. A guy (who has a 2T-G in a E7 Corolla) said: this is normal, his temperature meter works like this also, but i'm not calm.
The temperature meter is doing this since i have the car (~ 7 months and 5000 km-s)

Any ideas? Is it really normal, or not? Should i change all the old water-pipes?

Thanks for your advice.

to check if it's the meter OR the car which is not good, i'd place another watertemperaturesensor + meter in the system and check.

Maybe the guy is correct, maybe not. But without decent checks, you'll never know Smile

Mine never goes higher than 85% and my radiator is smaller than a normal radiator since it is shared with the autobox.
I'd say do what The Doc advises: see how high the temperature is when it reaches the redline. Normally this should be above the 100 degrees.
And don't worry if it does: the coolant mixture can get as hot as 120 degrees. Wink

Congratulations on the MOT Doc, but if you don't mind me saying so, that little spoiler also accentuates the wonkyness a bit Tongue
Looks cool though Thumbs up!

A splash of fresh white paint would hide the inperfections a lot better I think, have you found the right color yet?

no, but didn't bother. I can't use those motip cans on big surfaces, and Dennis is way to busy, so i keep it like this for now Smile
