"The Minowas" 86Fest 2026, Mondello

I've visited 86Fest again this year in Mondello with a few friends and made more pictures than usual. One of them is not that into cars so he had even more time to look around take some photo's.

The socials are full of similar pictures (and probably better quality ) but they will disappear in the growing mess soon. So I attached a few to this post


Nice AE86World banner in the pits!


This was the AE86 area of the show. I didn't count them, but there were many.


Prominent place for the AE86 pickup (was on-sale for €28.000,-)


Even more AE86's near the middle of the paved area.


And some clean UK-spec ones on the DH auto's booth. The Chinese copy shell was not there unfortunately. I only saw the banner somewhere.


A nice lineup of cars following the marshal car after the parade-lap. They were all leaving the show afterwards.


The non-carguy friend made it a sport to capture the behavior of me and the others in a carshow. Apparently this is looking at engine bays (there's like 20 photo's like this )


And looking for inspiration at rally-cars.

Spotted ondafly's Levin!


And a closer picture of the pickup. It was quite a decent transformation. The bed was usable and it looks like the suspension pickups were all in original position. So it probably still drives like an AE86.


Lovely simple AE86. Not a lot of modification is needed to make them look good (if you preferer the modified look ofcourse)


With a different bonnet, FRP bumper and a spoiler you get something like this.


This Levin won best of show (modified)


And the Winds auto Levin was probably the most extremely modified one. SR20 powered with rear radiator. Properly driven on track.


Also Trueno's were present in all forms. Clean example, also tracked.


Nice booter with a very cool livery.

Apparently I also made a picture of the engine bays I was looking at. Clean setup with the color match of the cam-gears, cambelt and valve-cover.

Quite a few TRD kitted cars were present. Maybe I'm biased, but I think this is the kit to go for if you want a widebody. Keeps it period


This car is an insanely proper build. Decent cage, all fresh electronics and a K-swap with ITB's. Don't know who owns it, but was the showstopper on track. Drove almost every session and was driven very hard.

There were quite a few dodgy cars on track to be honest


And a Trueno with the same kit.

Also some different Toyota's on track. They started allowing them a few years ago. This is of course a car that fits in, but now there were also driving quite a few JXZ's and IS200's. I'm not sure this improves the track action t.b.h. The speed difference is quite big. I always enjoyed watching ~200hp cars trying to do a mega entry of the first corner from the grandstands. Usually people were trying to tandem that corner also.

Due to the bigpower cars now blasting through the field and overtaking every time it looked like everyone was holding back. It looked quite sketchy sometimes because of the speed difference.

Wow, I really need to go to 86Fest someday. Unfortunatelys it's always right between my son's and daughter's birthdays, so that would be difficult to skip a weekend.

The AE86 hatchback made a lot of rounds in the various groups and on Instagram. It appears as if they took the Publica truckbed and crafted in on an AE86.
I love the blue UK-spec car! Its 8A9 colour remains one of my favourite non-panda paints!

You can take them on a holiday to 86Fest as a birthday gift quite a lot of children there. Don't forget to bring ear protection

Haha, thank you! Next time! It was so busy and crowded that I didn't even managed to see all the cars there. I've spend most of my time watching track action and waiting for food

Too bad Ireland's so far away, it's 20h driving time to get there. Maybe some day I'll combine it with a holiday trip to get to drive my 86 on the correct side of the road for once
