USDM 4AG vs JDM 4AG
I thought something like this would be in the FAQ but i couldnt find anything about it.

I read somewere that the USDM 4A-GEU has 112hp and the JDM 4A-GEC has 130hp. Were does this extra 18 hp come from?

The article said the change was done to meet Californian emission standards but i live in canada so would that affect me as well? I always just assume if they make a change for the US then Canada gets the same change but i could be wrong.

thanks

JDM and EU cars were equipped with the MAP engine while US spec and Swiss cars got the AFM engine which were confirm stricter emsission standards.
Also all AFM cars feature a catalytic converter (some MAP does have them as well) and that's also a difference.

I believe the EU spec cars only got 123hp, so we have a little bit less too. Sad

Dont forget to take in account what norming system was used. Japanese norms often end up a few hp higher than those that are common in the rest of the world. In short: the definitions of what 1 hp is is not always the same.

I commonly see the difference attributed to the JDM ECU being tuned for higher grade fuel that was available in Japan.

I understood that it depends per country as well... What we call Euro 95 is not the same as 95 octane in Japan.

So if i was to run my 4AG with the JDM harness and ECU with a higher octane fuel then I would get that extra few hp.

What is the normal octane rating in Japan? I have 110 readily available to run this thing but i have to keep it stock and I dont think just the fuel would pull it off, also like said above the JDM ECU is programed for it.
