Valve clerance for 4age 16v
Hi guys im looking to do a shimless conversion from 1SZFE to my 4age 16v red-top engine. Since the under-bucket shims is crazy expensive ill go for 1SZFE conversion.
I will use 272deg 9mm camshaft(int\ext) and im looking for valve clerance to use these camshafts.
I have a Toyota repair manual and it say the valve clerance should be:
Intake: 0.006in to 0.010in
Exhaust: 0.008in to 0.012in
But these clerance are for stock camshaft.

I got also a TRD Bible wich set the clerance for a 272deg 7.5mm lift to:
Intake: 0.005in
Exhaust: 0.007in

But i want to be sure of wich clerance I can use for my type of camshaft, someone know a clerance to be used for a 272deg 9mm lift camshaft(int\ext)?

Thank a lot

Ugo

I ment that the clearence schould be less, cause of the higher lift, correct me when I'm wrong Smile

I have look carefully in the box, no paper at all about valve clerance.
These cams are Toda racing 272deg 9mm lift.
If i cant find the right valve clerance specs i think i will go for the N2 valves clerances specs and see what happen.

On my Web cams(294 grind)... I'm using stock specs...
cold
intake - .15mm to .25mm
exhast - .20mm to .30mm

I'm the overzealous type... so I made ALL intake clearances .2mm and all exhaust .25mm each is dead on in the middle of the spec

by matching all clearances..... in theory... all lifts/durations will then be identical when measured at the valve

Clearances are related to the material which the cam is made and not its lift or duration.

HKS states that for 256/264/272 camshafts the clearances are the following:

Intake 0.25mm +/- 0.03mm
Exhaust 0.30mm +/- 0.03mm

Toyota states something different that I can't find right now!

Best regards
