Weak spark, doesn’t start.
It turns over but there’s no spark. My friend gave me a jump start and he hooked it up wrong for a sec. I’m trying to locate fuses related to ignition. I checked for spark at the spark plug cable. Nothing. I also checked spark at the coil cable that goes to distributor and nothing. It’s a 20v silvertop in an ae86. I don’t have the fuse box cover so I don’t know which is which. Also how do I check if the coil and or the igniter Working properly?

Weak spark, doesn’t start.
I did that a few months ago as well with a jump starter. Basically for me two of the three fuses on the battery terminals blew: only the 60 amps one survived. I replaced those and then luckily everything was fine again.

I tested the coil and it’s getting .7 ohms primary windings and 12-13k ohms in the secondary windings. Does this sound like normal specifications? |

The .7 ohms primary windings is a little high, [spec .35-55] but probably not a real concern. I would bet that if you put the battery on a charger and fully charge it, plus clean and check the battery cables including the starter, you would be in business. If that does not fix it, some auto parts will test your battery for free. I would also check all your fuses with a battery power test lamp, just to be on the save side. Dave W

Weak spark, doesn’t start.
Okay guys I figured it out. Before this happened I had cleaned the throttle bodies and I did it with the engine off since battery was dead until my friend came by for the jump. Spark plugs were soaked with carb cleaner and engine was flooded. I knew it was something stupid. Thanks for all your input guys. Now she’s breathing tons better with the cleaned itbs. Only thing now my idle is wandering like fluctuating. Anyone know what this is? Is it the ecu getting used to the clean itbs?
