VSS signal from stock cluster ?

Hi

Reading about electric P/S i came on info that there is a VSS signal on stock clusters that can be used as VSS pickup.

I'm curious, have anyone tried this ?
I could really use VSS on my standalone, and this way it seems (too) easy.

I didn't tried yet, but i think i will have to do it when i start the BT wiring...

At the bottom, reed switch type VSS. There is a four-pulse per revolution
output signal generated by the rotation of the speedo cable. I have tapped
it for use with an Apexi RSM meter on my AE86, and it works fine.

Only unknown left is voltage.

With VEMS this is kind of scary.
VSS pin is connected directly to main CPU and anything above 5V can (and 12V will for certain) kill main CPU and cause serious damage to whole ECU.

As far as I can see, the VSS switches an ECU output to ground in the
stock configuration.

It's a ground signal vss. You need to run a pullup resistor.
