Yes I'm going over to the 'dark side' for a while, Just bought a Proton Satria and they are the hot ticket for the rallying that I do here in the U.K
I'll be keeping the Corolla, at least until I have decided which car I prefer.
The Satria for those who aren't aware is actually a Malaysian built Mitsubishi Colt and as such most of the Lancer Evo stuff fits on.
I like the Proton but my Ferrari race engineer friend won't even have it parked outside his workshop !
He loved the Corolla though and that even got invited into his workshop once Wink

I've never driven one, but apparently the satria gti is quite a weapon.
Nice buy!

Yes Matt, road and targa rallies.
Corolla is great but it is like running a classic car for rallying.
The Proton is a Compact that has been fitted with a GTi engine and gearbox, it has decent Bilstein suspension, Kaaz diff and a proper bias pedal box. I have navigated and set up the Preston road rally but driving it has always eluded me because I didn't want to damage the Corolla over the rough stuff. The Proton will help me fulfill a 'bucket list' wish and compete on this outstanding rally.

Not hugely fast but it is strong and handles really well especially over the rough stuff, independent rear suspension helps a lot.

Proton Satria GTi is nice a car. I am origin Malaysian, we always wanted GTi. I have few friends who owned normal Satria and upgrade them with Mitsubishi parts and engine (Cyborg if I am not mistake)

So glad I kept my Corolla !
The Proton is ok but the lack of available information makes owning one quite difficult. It's not until you have these issues that you really appreciate a 'site like this. Thank you to whoever keeps it going.
