cutting the floor to lower seat position ?

As many, i have problem with high seating position in my AE86.

I'm 193cm and when i put seat to more upright position, my head hits the roof.
Beside, i have sunroof which lowers roof a little bit more.

I like to seat close to steering wheel, but extending with adapter/boss kit isn't enough. Maybe if i move pedals toward rear of the car AND extend steering, but than the car would look stupid, entry/exit would be hard etc.

So, should i cut the floor ?

before cut, maybe try something like bride low max, which already has a very low base.
If it's not enought you could cut

I have a similar issue as I'm of a similar height. I agree with superli, out of all the seats I've tried in the AE86, the Bride seats seem the best suited to taller people like ourselves, it's my intention to purchase these seats to replace my TRD in the future.

Do it, no point in not enjoying the car because of the driving position. The bride low max rails are good but still restrictive if you have a cage & helmet to contend with.
I did this rough job to my project car, havent driven it yet but the seating position feels way better.



But if you had the time & skills you could do the likes of this.

This looks great, especially second one.

Do you have some extra pictures ? From drivers side, or even under car, just to se how he ran the exhaust and lines.

Btw. beside problem from rust, could there be problem with strenght and safety ?
I'm not sure if i'm going to roll cage option, not really a fan and not really planning serious track usage so... i hope it can stay this way.

What do you think, are these "hills" there on some purpose? Why Toyota designed them this way and not going with straight floor like many others?

Also i reeeeaaaalllyyy like my Recaro seats. They are from Porsche's from 1980s and looks, comfort and performace, in my opinion is 10/10 all. And they are designed to go to flat floor.

They strengthen it a bit but its mostly just to keep it from 'oil canning', flexing with a plonk plonk like a toy cricket. The toy's steel is better then your floor and can take the flexing without fatigue cracking.
The seat itself can be lowered if you remove its sliding stuff!

Just cut it, Ive done it to all of mine. never looked back.
