Yes.. and I agree with most of it. It's a good text for what to watch out with Toyota engines.
But IMO some things are exaggerated a little bit... Toyota scrap yard car park = AE92GTi - AE82GT - KE30 - KP62 |

So what? My 4age sucks, right? Its counting 325k....
I think that text aplies to most of the engines. If it is meant to be refered to 20 yo engines, it would be more apropriate to aply it to some "equal designed" of today. Ahhh, forgot... where says "200k or 150k" is probably more like 50k or 100k. CumpĀ“s Filipe Oliveira |

The article doesn't really say the engines suck but it just warns of pitfalls. For instance the examples of getting a low mileage engine from Japan doesn't mean you can expect it to be in excellent condition.

don't know too much about Australian oil and air (maybe they are contaminated, who knows) but I never seen worn original 4AGE piston or block. Damaged - yes, once using non-original pistons, pin came out and scratched the block etc. But worn - no, even in AE86 4AGEs, 20+yrs old.
The head at the picture looks scary. Maybe the owner used low-priced mineral oil lacking washing components ??? |
