wondering if any1 could help?

ive got some 272cams, ex and in. itbs, and standard size pistons, with pink injectors, in a 16v 4age.

Wot i want 2 know is wot headgasket thinkness would work well with this set up?
A 0.8mm metal trd?
Im also going to port and match the head. But how much should i skim the head by? i think the max. is 0.5mm aint it?!

Another question.....

Before i fit all that stuff, ive got a hks pfc f-con, its set up for a 4agze tho.

Would it work with my standard 4age? im thinking it would over fuel it/run ruff? Tho i gota apexi fuel controller, so i mayb able to adjust to the rite ratio? should i plug it in and see, or is that a bad idea?!

If you are using 272ยด cams it wil be a good idea to raise the compression ratio for about 11:1 I have experince that the standart piston are good for 11.5:1, but then you have to plan the engine block and modify the piston.

If you shim the head just until you reach the small water holes, and using a 0,8 TRD gasket(not 0,5 ) I think you would get about 10.8:1 compression ratio .

I would go 0.3mm skim and .8mm headgasket Nick, would be better in the long run to sell the F-Con and Apexi and go for Vems/Omex or similar Thumbs up!

272 cams is tooooo vague... I'd recommend to do some research into Dynamic Compression Ratio.... The main reason you need a high static CR with long duration cams has EVERYTHING to do with dynamic compression ratio and at what point the intake valve closes.

std cr is 9.4 to 1 = TVIS/largeport based engines 10.3 to 1 is std for non TVIS/smallport Which one do you have?

ASSUMING...... (std cr 9.4) TRD .8mm will bump 9.4 to about 9.8. TRD .5mm gasket will bump static CR from 9.4 to about 10.1 You will NEED adjustable cam gears because the gap from crank to cams has shrunk, so the cams need to be adjusted accordingly

272 duration cams...... 1) DON'T produce very much vacuum...tough to tune on a MAP system, tougher still with an AFM system - assuming both mangement systems are stock 2) Peak hp for a "common" 272 comes in at about 8000-8300, std computer has a redline of 7500.

May I recommend.... selling your 272 duration cams and get either a 256, or 264 cam.... at least both will work within the std engine management parameters

SERIOUSLY look at stand alone engine management *IF* you plan on building.... there is 10hp minimum available with a good engine management system... even with all STOCK internals!!!

Just a reminder, MAP sensored 4age bluetops have a static CR of 10.1:1, just so nobody gets their calculations wrong.

9.4 or 10.0 - Actually it has nothing to do with MAP or AFM type efi....

It has everything to do with if the car come originally with a catalyst or not.

Markets where a cat was original equipment got 9.4 to 1 CR pistons.... Markets without a cat got 10 to 1.

From my research there are areas in Europe that got the 10 to 1 pistons... the other market that got them was Singapore. I just got a set of the 10 to 1s...

I havent seen any MAP sensored ae's with cat yet, and most AFM sensored cars seem to have them.. I might not have been paying enough attention/

Ivan - I believe (pretty sure actually) ALL of the home market cars (Japan) are MAP and CAT equipped, and run 9.4 to 1 pistons
