Kent,

No hachi is called no hachi because he no longer ownes a hachiroku, he sold it to his brotherSmile

Prob is that there are alot of peeps out there, especially young ones like yourself, who come on boards like this one or club4ag with grand stories of what they are planning to do and never end up getting anywhere because they dont know what they are getting themselves into. Unfortunately that means people don't always react to kindly when someone new turns up like that even if that person turns out to be the exception to the rule and actually buys the car and mods it as he promised. Strangely enough, people like that are rare.

My advise, start at the beginning, get the car, get it running, then do a project at a time and ask for information about your project when you are about to do/doing it. When people get to know you and find out your serious their attitudes will change easily. Then prove them wrong about you and show them you really can do what you set out to do originally. And dont be scared of to easily by people like nohachi and nmwisimaSmile

From the sound of it, if your friend lets you use the shop and helps out, and your dad has the skills and wants to help out, you are already half way there. I would listen to the advise though, take it one step at a time, you'll find out there is alot more work in an almost 25 year old car like the hachi roku then you ever figure out at the beginningSmile

Btw NoHachi, uhm, don't you have a corolla in a garage that you had big plans forSmile common, hup to it, get that thing rolling the way you want it to, stop teasing young kidsSmile

Anyways, enough personal opinnion, moderator time *grin*:
People lets not turn this into a flame war. We were all young once and we all had big dreams before we got our car and some of us even made those big dreams come true. Its good that we try to get kents feet back onto the ground so he won't make rush decisions and make the same mistakes some of us have, but lets keep it friendly!

Kent its nice but i had the same ideas. It took me 1 year and 7 months before i painted my car. Trust me a hachi isn't all fun it costs you way to much money.

I work as IT but if i loko at it i would be richer if i would go for a 200sx or something!

yeah what you said mux, is basically what i want to do, you all give good advic, run a good site and i appreciate it, but i dont want to just get the car and make it up as i go along, i want to have plans for it BEFORE i build it. i made a mock up list, another, then another, till i feel i got it right. then i get the car, fix it, get it running, save, practice and get parts in the order i can afford them. you know? whats wrong with a parts list? i dont understand? i am not lying. i will git pictures of the stock sr5 when i get it. im not saying im buying all these parts at once and slapping te car together, im doing it with time, one part at a time.

same shit, different day.

same shit, different day.

Kent,

Its always good to keep a wish list so you know where you want to be at some point. Just realize that your wish list will never be complete and you will have to add alot of "have to's" to that list when you get the car.

Buying stuff on your wishlist only to find out you don't have the money to do the stuff you never thought off before you bought the car just isn't any fun at all. I've seen that approach fail many times now.

Get the car. If it drives, do the "must do" stuff (tires, brakes, fluids) first, then drive it as it is for atleast a week or two, preferably daily, then deside what needs to be done first.
