How do you go about fitting the bumpers to those arches?

Amazing job by the way!!! Youre like the Yoda of the 86 world. ( In a good way!!! Thumbs up! )

The bumpers are a easy fit just as normal but the ends are cut off them so they only go about 50mm behind the flares and the flares screw to the bumpers

Thanks for the compliments

Why are the camcovers so high on front, is there something underneath which needs that space?

The cam covers are raised at the front to attach to the chassis in the Atlantic swift DB4 single seater

Another bit of progress today , with my engineer finishing the equal length rear arms and panard rod as well , all adjustable bolted in place with left and right hand threads on the rose joints .I will send these to be electroplated later in the week .
This helps me move toward getting the rear end assembled in the next week or so

nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Another weekend and a little more progress, work during the week seems to be keeping me from making any mid week progress !

The equal length rear boxes are all welded in now and the rest of the inside has been etch primed
[Image: AEU86 AE86 - nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,]

It took a lot of work to clean up the inside with scotch brite and emery tape as the media blaster had managed to get quite a bit of sand into the primer when they painted it , just reminds me that I should do it myself next time!

I sand blasted the rear diff housing today and primed and top coated that as well so it is ready to dummy fit everything up soon .

Also I managed to get 2 new lsd axles from Toyota NZ and these were the last two as there is no more stock in Japan

With another day tomorrow I am aiming to get the suspension dummy fitted and have the car back on the ground. The car will be almost totally assembled , then stripped down and painted

nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Well instead of getting onto all the jobs around home today , it rained and that means the best place to stay dry is in the workshop!
there were two rails at the rear of the floor that had been bent so I had another shell that donated another couple of rails in good condition . So after a bit of drilling and plug welding they are as good as new again
[Image: AEU86 AE86 - nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,]

The last of the fabrication work is the seat mounts so it is time to test fit up all the new running gear, so while the body was still in the rotator it was a good time to fit the diff housing from above instead of from underneath.

So much easier when gravity helps !

And for the same treatment to the front end while it was upside down, then fitted the struts and bottom arms and caster rods

It feels like it was years ago that this project started , but now it is starting to look a bit like an ae86 again

The body is sitting a bit high and the wheels will change from what is on there as well
