which of the Japanese domestic AE86's came with a black strip at the top of the rear lights? Is it just the ones with Sprinter on it?

I'd like to get my hands on a pair of kouki trueno coupe rear lights one day (redlines). From some coloured pictures I've seen it looks like the plastic part that has the same shape as the zenki lights can be separated from the small extruding bit. I think it should be possible to transfer the plastic to a zenki unit The only drawback is the lack of backup lights I guess.

I have sets of 2dr Redline and Whiteline rear lights here if anyone is interested Smile The redlines are quite rare and cost a fair bit before a forum member cancelled his order with me so as long as i get what they cost me i would be happy.

Well, it's hardly a priority at the moment, so I'd only go for bragain prices. The fact that it's a gamble if the plastic will fit zenki units also doesnt help much. But you're always more then welcome to send me a PM with some specifics...just the redlines though..I'm not fond of the whiteline units.

What "gamble" if the plastic fits the zenki" unit???

They are all the same, no?

From what I remember the kouki coupe tail lights use a center piece that is different than the zenki one, so there might some trouble fitting it. I've seen a car that had the whole boot exchanged from an early to late type, together with the plastic that Ivan wrote about.

Ahhh, VTEC. All the lag, none of the turbo. It's like waiting for bad sex.

Well you can see from banpei's scan that there are subtle differnces in the area around the lights. Essentially its the bit that holds the reversing lights. It will be interesting to see if the bodywork was changed on the later cars and if it was, was it only changed in Japan.

Also the Levins have a plastic section that attaches onto the bottom of the boot lid.

Lastly, i see the book producers got it wrong as well, anyone else spotted the mistake ?

If that matters, I changed the lights to my 3d carfrom the original bulky ones to a set with a centerpiece.
Lights are bont on, centerpiece isn't.
It bolts to the upper part all right, but you have to drill 4 small holes for the licence plate lights, and two more are the lower part.
No big deal.
