rim and tyre size?
i am buying new rims for my hachi, but want to be cautious to ensure they do not rub the guards inner or outer.

i am looking at 16x6.5 or 16x7.0 rims.
...are 205/40 or 205/45 about the right size???

greatful for advice and open to suggestions...

cheers aaron Cool

16 is too big for hachi, just un neccesarry weight. 14x/7 or 15x7 on 185/60/14 - 195/50/15 is commonly used. You should also look for ET (it should be somewhere between 20 and - 10 for a J7 rim.

ET value defines how the rimm is placed from left to right.

ET 0 means the mounting hub is in the center of the width of the wheel, so if you have a 7 inch wheel (in width), 3.5 inches stick to the inside, and the other half outside hachi has them hubs pretty tucked in so lower values of ET are needet to fill those arches nicely. (bigger et means th wheels mounting hub is positioned further out, so more of the wheel sticks inside.

i'm in agreement with Apolan. even the supercharged guys here stateside go no bigger than 15" and tsuchiya himself doesn't go any bigger than 15". d1's ueo rides on 14"s and he's pushing over 200+whp NA. but if you're dead set on 16"s then what Apolan mentioned is to watch your ET or Offset; you don't want too much negative ET/Offset (pushing the wheel closer to the outside of the chassis) because it'll be more work in modifying the chassis to accomodate them (though you can go fender flares or wide body which looks hot IMO) and you really wouldn't want any positive ET/Offset because it lessens the cars track width and just doesn't look very good Tongue

Oh, the tires will also be a bit wider...
And a bit lower, making it feel firmer in the steering, it needs it!

Are you sure that theres space enough for such wheels? I took a run in my car the other day, and my 15x7 ET 13 with 195 tires, rub if i corners hard through a bumpy roundabout.. And my suspensions isnt soft - well i guess that you, Skassa, would say that it is Big Grin
