maybe one of your lines is not handling the pressure. Did you change your flexible lines? I would change the hard lines on the rear axle as well. Just to be sure.

Maybe it's a problem with your handbrake cables? I doubt a new caliper would seize up , unless your braking fluid is full of junk. Try to elaborate on why you think it is seized, what have you tested?

im not a 100% sure it is seized but after i drive around for like 10 minutes i rim would get really hot and my rotors is just heating up badly..so im guessing my pads arent being released. heres my question when u change the rear pads or caliper do you have to do anything special to th handbrake cable etc..?

Hi drift,
Are you sure the pads aren't simply stuck in the bracket? You have these little metal thingies at the side that help them move but if these are installed wrong or if these are dirtly or if it doesn't all fit right, the pads can get stuck in the brackets and not release while the caliper itself is fine. What you could try to do is take the pads out, give the bracket and the metal insets a good clean, sand the metal bits that stick out on the backplate of the pads a little so they move well and easy within the bracket, and lubricate them a bit with copper grease or something similar. The pads should move without obstruction within the brackets. Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

drft_ae86 Wrote:Here is my question; when u change the rear pads or caliper Nothing special with the cable, but you should wind the piston back into the caliper to allow the new pads to fit correctly. There is a spring loaded spiral rachet thingy (technical term ) in behind that automatically adjusts the handbrake as the pads wear. If you don't wind the piston back in, you could have problems fitting new pads, but hardly likely to be a problem with brand new calipers. If your entire hub assembly is getting hot, it might also be a wheel bearing on it's way out.. mine would heat up the entire rim when I had that problem.
If you can freely turn the wheel when it's jacked up, then you can be pretty sure it's not the caliper..try to test this with hot and cold conditions (it's probably best to lift the entire rear axle on axle stands). FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

the metal shim on the back of the pads is to stop brake squeel and shouldn't affect their performance in any way. Maybe the brakes are sticking due to an air lock somewhere in the system
