You only set the idle screw when engine is warm, just like EFI. Otherwise it won't idle correctly.
Then the carburetor has a choke (comparable to the coldstart injector) and it is probably an automated choke (like most modern carbed cars have) so you better check if it is still working correctly. I think this what your problem possibly is.
