I believe you need to measure the rotational torque, afaik it's only purpose is to adjust preload for the pinion bearings. Just pick the shim that gets it within spec.

Don´t waste your time, give it to a diff/ G-box shop.
The cheapet tool to do the job costs 340Euro. That´s twice as much money as you need to get it done in a shop!

IIRC Weir Performance had a good writeup on their website of how to
intall a solid pinion spacer.

EDIT: My bad... I was thinking about the LSD upgrade kit. Pretty sure
for the spacer you assemble and torque to spec, then check the preload.
Too much preload, add a thicker shim. Not enough, use a thinner shim.
Assemble, torque to spec and check preload. Repeat as many times as
necessary to get the preload correct.

It's the same as setting up any 'crush' sleeve, but instead you shim it until it reaches spec.

If you do NOT know how to do this already, I would definetely recommend taking it to someone/somewhere that IS experienced. This is not a job for beginners.

Hello ,
you can use a stock shim to adjust the preload.
Remove it and measure it .
You cut the solid space to the same measurement. It needs a great precision.
That's how my machinist do it .
If your interested, he's located in Belgium (Hannuit) ,not so far from you.
I can give you the address and phone (he speaks english)

If you buy the real TRD, install the pinion bearings, the TRD solid spacer + ALL shims. Assemble the pinion gear WITHOUT installing pinion seal. Check pre-load, if too little, remove shim and recheck until it is proper.
