Gearbox fitting tip
Replaced the gearbox today and would like to pass on a useful tip. If like me you end up doing this task without a pit or ramps so that you can stand underneath the car have someone support the back of the 'box through the gearlever hole with some rope from inside the car. While you are underneath they can easily pivot it on a jack and support the gearbox whilst remaining out of the way. Hope that makes sense

Gearbox fitting tip
Yeah thats a good tip, Never done a gearbox without a ramp myself, but I bet its a real fight.
Changed the diff on my BMW once, started about 6pm, outside on a winters evening, by about 11pm the bastard was out, and I was frozen, needed it out to have it welded the next day, never again |
