Looking for donor car

I am designing a electric car that will weight 400kg and now I am looking for a proper donor car to get suspension,brake and steering from. A optimal car would be something thats readily available in Finland and there would be new parts available for a reasonable sum. Parts could be ordered from the internet from a reputable seller that will be around for years to come.

Anyone have any good ideas for cars or know some good shop that sell parts that are approved?

Are you sure looking at such new cars is wise? As I guess my "boss" has to pay for those??? ;-)

Parts availability might be better for new car but for older cars that are popular there might be lots of aftermarket parts availabilty. Peugeot parts aren't very expensive, 205's have their following. Also most (smaller) French cars have rear axles which just bolt with 4 bolts to the boot floor and can thus be easily used in home build constructions (are they called "torsion" axles? in 205/309 world they usually speak of "rear beams").

A guy at TAK told me about really cheap suspension for his late 80's VW Polo that he got from some internet seller in Germany.

Toyota parts are expensive in the Netherlands, I'm not sure how it is here but as Corolla of all ages are popular in Finland I would expect there to be a good availability of imitation parts for the E10 as they are also popular with boy racers. If I'm not mistaking the E11 is build on the same platform. As you know P6 Starlets are used for rallying in Finland as are Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts making loads of suspension parts available everywhere (but those are of course RWD).

Did you look around the motonet website just to see what is available for what? Also for what types of cars Biltema stocks parts is a good indicator of popularity and parts availability/cheapness.

The electric car will actually be a RWD, hmm well alot of good pointers gotta look thru that. The car will probably feature independent rear suspension so 1 solid rear axle is probably out of the question.

I am not running a Golf anymore. Had to buy my own car, running a BMW E39 touring from 98 now.
