nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Well it has been a long time since I have had time to work on this project but now that my work is slowing down with the rest of the world I will have some spare time again!
The car went back to my panel guy who sorted all the last little bits of body work , as I told hime there was no rush ,he gave it a home for about 4 months.
I am now fitting the body kit to the car and have made the move to a tilton floor mounted pedal box as well. This gives a lot more room under the bonnet for carbs and trumpets.
So all that is left to do before paint is build the seat mounts , lengthen the steering column as the floor mount pedal box moves everything back quite a bit and test fit everything else. Also in the next couple of weeks i will make my new fibre glass bonnet. I have another set of rear TRD springs on the way that have had a bit cut out of them so I will see how the height looks with them in it

nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Hehe, I see that your N2 project has been in the background for the summer just like mine. Smile Looking pretty good!

I can imagine how crowded the right side of the engine bay is on an RHD car with sidedrafts so the pedalbox is probably going to help a lot. Having just mounted the seat on my car, I noticed that there's absolutely no clearance for my head with a helmet on. Moving the seat behind the lateral frame beam would help but then I'd need a pedalbox and an extended hub for the steering wheel. Is this what you're planning on doing?

Eircamae86, We had to do that to our floor pan to get us away from the roof with a helmet on. Works a treat.

nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Looking forward to seeing the finished result of much hard work!
Are you going to run the N2 in any racing class in NZ or did you build just to have it Tongue
Would be cool to see your car run at Tsukuba in the yearly AE86 Battle!

Hi there
I'm not sure what I will do with it when I have finished it , there are a few classic classes that I can race in here in NZ .I may just buy a new chair and sit in it and look at the finished car in my workshop!!.
I will have some more pictures in a couple of days as the last bit of fabrication is being done now , and then will be ready to start painting

The completed item weight is less than half of the stock part.
It all takes so much time when you are manufacturing so many parts for this car, but at the end it will be built how I want it done .
This is just a hobby . Smile
