been sitting all winter. still won't start. help
hi, i have a 20v swapped ae86. it's been sitting all winter. (for 5 months)
back when it was a bit colder i put in new gas and some gasline antifreeze. changed the plugs. (it was fouling plugs before it was parked, due to an untuned safc) it'll turn over but won't fire. help? |

How has it been swapped mate? is it running a standard distributor or a coil pack? Either way, work from the plugs back with a continuity meter to see if spark is getting through to them and check all the fuses that relate to the ignition of the engine.

been sitting all winter. still won't start. help
its a 20v 4age 1st gen silvertop running a distributor. plug wires were replaced before it was parked with trd plug wires.
my next guess was gonna be fuses. i'm doing an oil change and coolant flush tomorrow so i'll check the fuses and test for spark while i'm at it. it's still -12 celsius and snowy so i'm in no rush to get it on the road anyway, especially without a heater, with summer tires and sitting just a few inches off the ground. thanks for the advice |

Try some spraying some "engine start" fluid down the intake while
cranking. Gasoline volatility will be low at sub-zero temps, so it will wet the plugs down easily. You will also need your ISCV to be working. If it is gummed up and stuck shut, you will have to crack the throttle to have any chance of starting. Cheers... jondee86 |

been sitting all winter. still won't start. help
here are some pics of the plugs
and jondee, last night i put some heaters in the garage overnight. it was probably +15ish when i got up and looked in the garage. tried to start it, same thing again. cranks fine, no fire. with a friend i pulled each plug one at a time and checked for spark while turning over. from the plain eye i couldnt see anything but i'm gonna pick up a volt meter today and check to make sure. |

You did ground the plug properly on some clean metal part of the chassis?

yes, and it has spark. so it's a fuel problem. i took the fuel pressure gauge off (right after the fuel filter) and put a jar over the opening and cranked it and no fuel came out. i put a heater up by the fuel filter and underneath the tank and am going to try it tomorrow (just to let everything thaw) and hopefully i get something
