dude at this speed.. not sure if newer cars would do any betterm or that a cage could save you. Maybe a realy realy hardcore one might make a difference, but side impact into a tree/pole is the absolute worst of all, and it cost many rally drivers/codrivers their lives (with full-on cages). If one starts looking at it like this, you might as well stay of the road.. drive with your head and erase the negative images from it what i say.

looks terrible indeed. side impact is hard on a car, as said even with a rollcage..

even if you could make a rollcage for this, your organs cant cope with the instand kinetic energy. 80km.h - 0 km/h in split second is to much, also with front impact.

80 km/h ?? Hardly surviveable.
Also, there is no car that would be fixable (at least at reasonable cost) after impact like this one.

High speed electric pylon crash test on a hungarian rally:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QctTg6vZocI

The driver and codriver survived without any problem, but the car is gone..
Full WRC cage was inside.
It was around 170km/h !!

Of course 170 km/h to 0 km/h but in 7 sec and with rolling Smile

Not 170 km/h to 0 km/h in 0,001 sec Confused

Even a cage and huge reinforcements in the door won't save you when you're sitting in your recaro bucket seat with four point belt. Blush

The worst thing of this video is that I used to drive a zenki USDM SR5 2 door coupe, exactly like this one. Huh

At that speed it doesn't matter if your going sideways or full frontal..
It's the end of the ride no matter how you hit that pole!

Yea cages help alot in rolling accidents so you dont get crushed. But there are realy no hard impacts (hard meaning lethal). And i dont think that looks like 170 kmh, more like 100 maybe. Its a dangerous sport, this driving fun..
