Almost a panda. [edit]No more panda![edit]
here's the story:
We are writing down: Saturday 25th of July. In 2 weeks and 4 days this has to be on it's way to the RR gathering in sparkford, UK, repainted and all. Why do I have to start far too late with these kind of jobs? here's a short things-to-do list: Weld the backdoor. Cut out the roofpanel. Polycarbonate the rear window and roof. Fit the new bonnet and front fenders Rebuild the starter Clean up the wheels Respray the whole car. fixed the rusted boot. Fixed the rusted radiorecieverhole ( I'm creative with translating dutch words ). The doorstrips are far gone, so I wont put them back. That leaves much holes to weld. This is how I'll cut the roofpanel out. This is the reason why: Another rusthole. Cut the rust out and couldnt be bothered to weld it. Didn't feel like removing the bumper and lights, so I made it of polyester. After I'm done with the million hole from the doorstrips and I have cut out the roof, I can start with sanding and painting! Just got back from the DIY store with my new roof and possibly my new backwindow. I'm not sure about the back window. The Lexan sheet is bloody expensive, so I took acryll for the backwindow. But it seems very weak and has so much flex, that I'm wondering if it will stay in the window rubber... But I got my new Lexan roof lying in the Starlet. Tomorrow i'll bring it to the workshop and I hope it will be in next Saturday. I'm finished with welding on the car, so it's bodywork time tomorrow. Also the Doctor is helping me tomorrow. He's goiing to get the starter out of the Celica... 8-) Picture! ;D Last friday I found some spare time to put in the Celica. The Doctor came along to me me a hand with the starter. That was a simple job. The 2 bolts from the starter came out, so the starter was alomst hanging loose under the car.. :o Then I can imaginge that the engine doesn't crank.. ;D Quick fix, monday I'll have 2 new bolts, so then the starting issue should be solved. In the meantime I started to fix the fingerprint of a tirestack in the door.. And I got busy with getting back the original shape of the boot, that was a bit vague after my welding.. :-[ Yes, this boot will be part polyester, part metal and part blood, sweat and tears. bye bye antennahole. Time's up, tomorrow it's another day. So it got tomorrow, saturday first of August. Finished the righthand side of the car. That's waiting to get masked and be attacked with the primer.. Also went back to the deformed boot and made a OEM-like shape in it.. Doccie pushed me a bit the weld the rear wiperhole.. At your service. It's after all my car.. ;D yeey, boot is also finished and ready for primer. Finally.. Wanted to use the hood from my last blue Celica, because I taught it was in better shape.. No it isn't.. :-/ So I'll be using the current hood.. What's this?? Ahh.. It's clear now.. Crap, now there's now way back... :o Also had a little bit of time to start sanding the front bumper, but I didn't got any further than this. This is how I left it today.. Will I make it in time for the RR gathering? :-X Tomorrow I don't have much time to work on the car, so I'm trying to finish the whole car for primer on tueseday and wednesday. Wednesday get the car in the primer. Sand it Turseday. Paint it on Friday and Saturday and then I've got 3 days to put it all back together... Talking about a timetable! I must be bloody mad to overhaul a car 3 weeks prior to a big show.. :-X The whole car is primered, sanded and masked. Today the first bit of the paintjob will be done, tomorrow the second part of the paintjob... Also tomorrow I'll start working on the lexan sheet for the roof. Monday is the first day of assembling and it should be finished Wednesday. Then Wednesdayevening load up the car for the gathering. Thurseday is just a workingday and Thursedayevening on the way to the RR show! hope to put some pictures up before I leave to the show.. here are some pictures of primering the car. sanded: masking: And finally in the spraycabin. This will be the last pictures of the car. If you want to see the end result, you should all come to the RR gathering 2009! 8-) I may have time to refurbish the wheels, and if I have I'll put on some pictures here. alrighty then.. The paintjob is finished, the lexan roof is in, the wheels are neat again, the whole car is assembled and it's starting again.! Left me to empty the car. It's full of bits of metal and rust and as usual I have a lot of bolts and nuts and screws left over. Assembling is the art of leaving things out. Then it's cleaning time and packing time! It looks like I'm gonna make it! finally got the time to put on the final result! only the lexan roof has come off I need to find another way to fix the roof now.. I reject your reality and substitute my own! No more Panda.. Tricolor bastard! If it 'aint broke, fix it 'til it is |
