Is mine a UK AE86? What on VIN/Chassis number says so?

As title really.

I have a rather tatty AE86 we are restoring, and have been told it is a genuine UK car, but how do we tell?

The V5 has no mention of it ever being imported, and it is called a GT Twin Cam Coupe or something on there, but V5s are rarely worth the paper they are written on, lol.

Does anywhere on the chassis/VIN shows its a UK car rather than a Jap Import?

That seems to say its a European one, and its RHD, so UK it is, cool

Are UK ones worth much more than Jap ones of similar condition? I understand they are, maybe in Ireland?

Ill take some pics once it is back to being road worthy from the resto, it shouldnt take too long now.

It is in the UK at the moment, it is early, 1985 i think? Its white with standard black bumpers, but the actual car spec not very original, it has been tuned/modified over the years it seems.

It has a stripped out interior with bucket seats and harnesses, rear cage, sunroof removed (so from outside could never see its there), koni suspension, 2way diff, revolution alloys, a 4AGZE supercharged engine conversion, manual windows, no PAS, and a few other bits and pieces that people might be interested in.

It has had a full respray in its original colour and a lot of work on the chassis due to what was once quite bad rust.

It is far from original concourse spec, but it looks original/traditional from the out side, and as a performance car it seems quite a nice spec.

Not sure what its worth at all really, even if I ever did decide to sell it.

There are 2 ways to to find out if your car is JDM or not:
1: Non JDM cars have a JT...AE86 prefix in its VIN, with on the dots various information about which production plant manufactured it and where it was sold.
2: Toyota prefixed all JDM cars with E in front of the model identification on the firewall plate. So normally your model code would be AE86R-ECMQFW, a Japanese equivalent should be E-AE86-ECMQF (No R because all cars are RHD and no W because it was sold in Europe)

main way to find out is by chassis numbers.
Uk chassis number starts with... JTI XXX
and JDM imports start with... AE86 XXX
