if your heading down either the silver or blacktop route, check this guy out.
will sort all your cooling needs, and has a few other very nice toys to make the conversion go really easy. http://s-86.com/ frieght isnt too bad from our end... he is in aus ![]() ![]() blacktop is a very nice engine, but the internal knock sensor in the ecu is VERY sensitive, so tends to retard very early in the peice. Silvertop bottom end is a bit stronger if you plan on going boost at any stage ![]() good luck ![]() clutch kick, switch, tree .... oowwww |

Hey thanks for the links!
i will go check them out now, I'm not a Forced induction kinda guy i much preffer N/A all the way. so any more pros or cons of either motor would be helpful. I will be reading and absorbing as much info over the next month or so before i decide anyway as the car is in storage for the winter anyway. Some other areas as well as motor will be addressed over winter. and Ivan i foudn the thread and read it thanks for the dicrection very helpful! so far this board is great as a new 86 owners guide. glad i chose it over others! ![]() |

blacktop head is nicer and the rods are great for standadr, but are prone to stretch at really high revs.
to get the most out of it, a complete ecu swap would be best ![]() or beams.... ![]() clutch kick, switch, tree .... oowwww |

9000 plus. you wont do it on a standard ecu
if you have the choice and must use the standard ecu then the blacktop is worth the map sensor alone ![]() means open trumpets ![]() clutch kick, switch, tree .... oowwww |
