Right, as usual not much happening with the car build.
The new engine is being built as we speak, hopefully be ready around teh end of the month So in the meantime, I have taken a few of the engine brackets to the powder coaters, they will be blasted and coated black (they were silver originally) to go with the white / black theme. I decided it was time to clean the Beams 6 speed gearbox up, so I took it up to my friends workshop and squeezed it into the very small parts washer to clean and degrease it first. Once cleaned, it didnt look too bad....but still not good enough! Right, so a little bit of masking up and its time to give it a couple of coats of paint. One side Different angle Now, it might not look much better but if you look at this photo 1/2 and 1/2 you will see that it is much better ongoing.... The finished article, drastic improvement! I'll take some pics of the freshly coated brackets when they return! Thats all folks I'm currently taking HRT ~ Hachi Roku Therapy |

Update time....
A few of the freshly powder coated brackets and various housings off the engine arrived back, looking like new Next Up.... I planned to go and visit the fabricators (surprise visit) to see how much progress they hadnt made and then on to the engine builder to drop off the freshly powder coated brackets. So up at 5am and off I went, drove the 175miles to the fabricators....... So first up.... The rear axle has now been powder coated The shell has also now been undersealed underneath, in the arches and round the sills ready for all that British weather. Better than from the factory I suspect Other than that not much else has been achieved bar the installtion of the Tilton Pedal Set and Remote Resovoir assemblies into the engine bay So I had a few words with them and told them to get cracking, the engine is ready in 2 to 3 weeks and I want the shell back to a rolling shell before this! Anyway, off I went, a further 85 miles to the engine builder.... during my cross country tour I spotted this old skool yank on a trailer, very cool Drag Monster! Arrived at the engine builder, dropped off the engine brackets and it seems like he is making good progress. Beams block is now torque plate bore and honed to suit the new pistons and is freshly painted in black of course In reality, it was a good job I decided to have the engine built, it turns out after we stripped and inspected it that the main bearings were suffering some severe wear (abused when cold) and goodness knows how long they would have lasted! Anyway, a polish on the crank and some new bearings will take care of this The rotating assembly is all balanced up now, individually componants first and then as a complete unit, including the clutch A picture of the new TODA forged pistons as they arrrived and before he does his magic on them (not allowed to take pictures afterwards ) Likewise a picture of the new forged rods (600hp capable and light) before he plays with them. Headwork is also well underway..... Well, thats all for now folks but with the engine getting built in the next two weeks and some work on the car hopefully occuring soon, the next month should get interesting Cheers for looking! Glenn, he wants to keep it as it is. If it was a full on race car then he would consider removing some material but with no harmonic balancer and wanting to keep some of the intertia in the engine we are going to leave it for now. Cheers

OK we are making progress
Headlight, side light and indicator fitting to the new tubular front end. Some nice brackets to keep them in place. and..... some of the front suspension componants getting fitted TRD sway bar on, new T3 bottom arms on and the T3 stabaliser rods are on.... a few too many different colours for my liking, I can see the red parts coming back off in the future and getting powder coated black!!! Additionally, front suspension stripped, getting painted then rebuilt with new TRD inserts and swift springs, axle build under way to suit the twin caliper setup, engine 95% finished and nearly ready for collection! Interesting times ahead! I'm currently taking HRT ~ Hachi Roku Therapy |
