Surreptitious.....
Well, on to the clutch hydraulics.

Hmmmm, that is undoubtedly a new hydraulic line... note it goes behind the brake master cylinder reservior, and tucks under the body seam, bends, and goes straight down to the original hydraulic line - now too short and having the wrong end. Oh... the actual location is behind the head, it is somewhat of an illusion that it appears closer to the header then it is.

Wrong end? How could it be the wrong end????

Here is the original clutch line

The end on the right would thread into the slave... BUT

As this shot plainly shows... the header is now in the way... so instead of a straight line, the slave end will now be fitted with a banjo bolt and proper fitting to make a tight, and immediate 90 degree bend, and snake along the starter and up to the new line location seen above.

The new line is being made by Techna-Fit, it'll be 3 1/2" longer then the standard line, the fitting seen on the left in the line photo above will be retained, while a banjo end will be mounted on the other end to keep it away from the exhaust

from other forum Wrote:why not use a gts transmission?

transmissions are the same, bells are different... why not use a GTS bell???

In either case - new hydraulic lines. I looked at both options... and the other side of the engine is becoming crowded. All the management wiring runs over on that side, and so does all the coolant hoses. I felt if I could mount the hydraulic line with a banjo bolt it would keep the line snug to the engine, away from the header and solve all the issues. I have given some thought to making a slave heat shield that would mount to the two bolts and add a layer between the header and the slave, giving me a bit more protection

Jesse came over today and lent me a hand. We mounted the Brave exhaust.....

All the mounts line up and the only issue maybe the rubber donuts are so new that the exhaust hooks rub on the rubber part of the chassis mount causing a squeak....... The other issue is to have a new adapter made. The original adapter was designed to take the KDB 2 1/4" collector inner diameter to the stock catalysts 2". The new system is running 2 1/4 the whole way, so the new adapter has to be 2 1/4" as well

We also managed to re-assembled the radiator/overflow(left - barely in view) and added all the ziptie labels to the new harness

anyone notice the MASSIVE ground strap under all the wiring, and labels!!!

I also was able to finish mounting the T/B, and I also managed to make the 5th injector block off plate, and the EGR block off plate

It's getting close!!!

Tight fit.....(under 1/2" from rim to strut tube), but I've now got the tires mounted and there is no issues with rubbing on the inside.

Moving on... with the clutch line ordered, the next project is modifing the KBD header. There are 2 things I'll need to do to modifiy the KBD header.

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Surreptitious.....][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Surreptitious.....]

1) the adapter that goes from the header to the cat needs to be 2 1/4", the current adapter(seen in the pics) "shrinks" the piping down to 2" to fit a standard cat and exhaust. This section of piping should be a few compound bends in that 14" section of pipe - the current adapter was a cobbled together POS - it now must be properly bent from a single pipe.

2) it is tough to see...

but you can just make out "V" part of the "X" on the collector (left side of photo), this is where the bung will be added for the new wideband O2 sensor.

Once I have this pipe finished I'll post up photos.....

Well.... I've got to get the flanges mounted..... but this should be the smoothest adapter possible. It will put some stress on the header, and the exhaust, since the flex section will be operating in a bent position, but the bend is smooooooth, and should allow the gasses to flow down the exhaust. I will look into placing reinforcements to help hold the header and the exhaust in their rightful positions.

More to come as this gets finished

OH....... The new clutch line arrived yesterday. Let see how this fits....

tight 90 degrees at the slave cylinder(via banjo bolt), with the line running up and away from the header

The line installed (minus the "U" mount)

The catback??? It is an AE86 exhaust by Brave Exhaust - http://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~brave-nh/pro...-list.html -BRMT-028 is the part number

Parent address for above listings page is - http://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~brave-nh/

It is mandrel bent, and 2 1/4" ID

I was able to get it through a US supplier(Cyberauto) It cost me $700 but that includes freight to the USA

Lets see...
1) new bung for wideband oxy sensor - check
2) 2 1/4" piping from the header to the Brave exhaust with the correct angle (adjustable at that  ) - check

Here is the header, flex, and cat.... all set for install!!!

There are a few more things before start up... but not a whole lot left

The final "large" piece to the puzzle...... a factory reman alternator!

more to come........

well, Josh was over earlier(thank you Josh).... he helped me swap in the "new" front strut assemblies. These are the custom springs, with the HTS112, and the TRD strut mounts. Jesse made new spacing adapters so theTokico's hold the spring firmly while the suspension is unloaded.

As installed.... note the nifty rubber dirt/dust shield with a cut out for the HTS cap.

The lower control arms, track rods, and sway bars were not part of this update. These parts will be changed out once I get the car back from the tune. I put the springs/dampers in now because the new rear springs were already installed, and I wanted the car to be level during the tune.

Here she sit.... just about ready for her tune....

.... waiting for Brooks Towing to pick her up....

....and bring her to Arnies dyno. Note the upside down Atlantic car just to the right of the dyno....

There appears to be a wiring issue with the TPS. The TPS is the only device currently not recognized by the system. No matter what combination of wires, the TPS is NOT being picked up by the ECU.....

She did fire! She ran for about 10 seconds.... but the TPS is what determines fuel in this set up and so with no TPS signal, all it can do is idle.

Doug is busy tomorrow, and Wednesday, but should be able to get back at it by the end of the week, and Rodger, Arnies tuner will be back next week...... so Surreptitious will reside at Arnies for a week or so till the TPS wiring gets sorted. Rodger thinks once the TPS is sorted we should be all good to go.

Btw, its nice to see the sensors functioning as it runs... see the changes(oil pressure, see what doesn't change(fuel pressure). Oh... NO leaks, and no spills yet... but that is only 10 seconds or so of running time.
