Spark plug wires
I was talking today with guy from Magnecor about the spark plug wires, so it might be good to share some info with you.

http://www.magnecor.co.uk/pdfs/p-t.pdf
AE86 4A-GE blue top (83-87) part number 45103 8,5mm cable set £57 + VAT + PP
AE92(A) 4A-GE red top (89-91) part number 45467 8,5mm £69 + VAT +PP

Person on the phone told me that they are selling a lot of these late times Smile. He left a good impresion on me by knowing a lot about 4A-GE variations and subversions.
IHMO Magnecor are THE cables to buy if you have the money. Respect!

If you are bit short on money like me, the you should consider this:

EDIT: i've read somewhere on the net that 4A-GE spark plug wires need correct impendancy, so be careful when replacing original cables.
I'll try to dig out that information on the net.

Personally I like the Paradise racing stuff a lot, also nicely priced including iridium plugs.

Unless you are boosting, OEM is best. The rest is just throwing away perfectly good money at a set of sparkly cabels. It would be better spent somewhere else.

Correction, you're probably okay with OEM wires when boosting also. Problems start at around 1 bar boost, but even then, most of the times a stronger coil solves the problem, not the wires.

Might be, but how good are 20 years old cables and what is the price of Toyota OEM cables?

You have to be creative regarding OEM. NGK cables without the toyota logo work just as good as the ones with logo. 20 year old wires can work just fine, but it never hurts to replace them just in case. Signs of sparkwires failing are hesitation at certain rpms, nervous idle quality (could be a dozen things though) etc. If you don't suffer from these symptoms then you're probably better of investing is some other part of your hachi.

I say this coming from the MX5, which has a tendancy to go through wires every two years. You really do notice a difference when they are ready to be replaced: in the mx its the 3000rpm hesitation. No power what so ever to be gained by running expensive wires or using larger coils (MSD etc).

I need a set of spark plug cables. My local dealer found 2 prices, 55 and 180 E. The 2 prices where for different types of engines(in years).
Can I use them both and wath makes the diff in price?I thought 180E is to much for me.
What are OEM cables, is this original toyota.
I just need a reliable set (no power gain).
