AE92 front shocks
Jan it does and it doesn't
Just putting in ae92 shocks will give you no lowering at all, but you will have a major problem because the shocks are not long enough to be used with stock springs. It's the springs that define how low your car sits. Important is that your shocks match your springs. Take stock springs and the ae92 shocks that the shocks will just be hanging inside the strut case. The proper install is to shorten the struts and use different springs, preferably something adjustable so you can fine tune it. You need to shorten the struts, the ae92 shocks are 6 or 7 cm shorter then the ae86 ones, most people shorten the struts by 4cm and fill up the remaining space with spacers so the shock nicely fits inside the shortened strut. Then you can finetune it all. You have to think this out carefully though because if you make your car to low by setting your springs to low (assuming you went adjustable) or when you position them to high, then your shock wont work in its optimal range. This is a very very good read on the subject: http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech_...ersion.htm Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Owh,just to complete the story, if you get lowering springs, or adjustables, but you keep the ae86 shocks, you will run out of movement for the shocks. Thats the whole reason you need to shorten your struts which means ae86 shocks no longer fit so you need to install ae92 shocks.
So shocks dont lower your car, but different shocks are needed to lower your car. And most important, if you go with a lowered hachi, RCAs are a must or your handling will be crap. Aico, why don't you buy the T3 coilover kit? Sure costs a bit of money but you know that you have the best kit available for the hachi. Other alternative would be getting ae92 shocks and the coilover set by paradise racing and follow the instructions in that link of my previous post. But I doubt it will be better then T3s setup unless you have years of experience knowing what you are doing. Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |
