American Rally 86 UPDATE
So, I tried to get the pedals in tonight, but apparently the bolts that hold the brake master cylinders to the pedal are too long up top, as they hit the resevior base, so I'll need to get new bolts. Also, I need to dig out the clutch master so I can finish that pedal. The grip strips on the dead pedal went well, at least... Then I tried putting the front suspension on. Well, I'm missing bolts. Awesome. So, I need more hardware. Looks like I'm shopping tomorrow. But I did manage to pick the two best strut tops from the 6 or so I've somehow managed to collect. So when that all failed, I just painted some stuff to get it ready to go on. Tomorrow when the axle is dry, I can suspend it, and also reassemble the steering column. Wow, I could have sworn I had an account here... I guess I'm the new guy |

American Rally 86 UPDATE
Hmm. Rat pee smells bad. So I cleaned out my heater core.
(the hamster that powers the car lives in that yellow wheel) I unclogged this guy too, I figure it will probably appreciate that. I'm really happy this thing came apart so easily, as if it didn't I would have gone nuts. That thing smelled horrible. So that's where the spare tire is going to live, I just need to drill the holes for the anchor eyelets and get the tie down straps. I'll have two in the front, and either one or two holding the rear, I haven't decided yet. Plans fell through with getting hardware and other such things today, as I ended up driving to Northgate and take a couple pictures for the Washington Poison Center ( http://www.wapc.org ), but the people that I was supposed to meet weren't there. So there went a good chunk of time I could have been getting supplies..... I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow. I still need to find heat reflective material for the firewall, engine side, and possibly a bit of heat shield mat for the driver's side of the tunnel, on the inside, where the exhaust runs right next to your leg... as I usually rest my leg there.... haha Wow, I could have sworn I had an account here... I guess I'm the new guy |

American Rally 86 UPDATE
alright, finally got some more pics.
The spare tire tie down is finished now, I just need to go get my own ratchet straps and shorten them. The ones I'm using are my brothers. Also, in that last pic, you can see the tool bag, and how it is likely to be attached. I haven't decided if I like those bungee mounts, but the bungee is pretty strong and the bag doesn't seem to want to move about. (besides, prodrive attaches expensive ECU units with bungee cords...) Here are the rear brakes. Some of you subaru owners may recognize the calipers... I also got some heat reflective tape on the firewall, and under where the exhaust header will run, to help keep the inside temps down. My leg gets toasty even in my SR5 just driving around, I kinda hate to think what a rally car will be like right there. An interior mat will also be going on the top and sides of the tunnel, to keep the heat down for legs and the ViPEC. Wow, I could have sworn I had an account here... I guess I'm the new guy |
