AE86 N2 (big update)

Went back home for some days, and spent most of the time working around the car.
Had a trackday on the 14th of February, so I had less than 4 days to get everything ready.

This was the exhaust solution I had in the car for some time. It was far from good, too restrictive and was smothering the engine far too much.



Got a custom made exhaust, all stainless steel with a 50mm diameter outer section.
Even the muffler was done up to my desired spec and everything was fabricated when the car was there to measure, so the fitting quality is perfect.




And here's the result:












Took the chance to change all the lubricants and filters.




Toyo R888 fitted and calibrated and Mintex pads ready to go.








The four link arms were all re-tightned and "Loctited"

The Boot stickers also found their way into the freshly painted ducktail. (Thanks Art!)

The overall feel of the car is perfect, the handling is just right and maybe just a bit too on the oversteering side.
Guess the Toyo T1R in the rear were no match for the R888's in the front.

Had the front tyres rubbing a nit in the wheel well, so next job is to take car of that.
I'll probably bend the inner edge of the side pannel to guive the tyre a bit of clearance when in bump.

In the onboard footage you can clearly hear the tyres rubbing like hell.
I had to keep it slow during that final session of the Trackday, with the tyres near their premature end...

Long time no post

Updates!

Finally got my 4AGE 20V Blacktop.
All the way from the Netherlands in a portuguese flower truck. True story!












Before I came to Portugal for the Summer, got a nice bucket seat that used to be in Richard Burns Evo IV, back in 1997.
One of the engineers that works with me was at Ralliart back then and had it in his garage for a long time. Now it found its way into my 86 :wink:











Looks light, is even ligher and adds the right feel to my driving position.




Last week, got a spare set of 14" wheels with Yoko's A539, just for emergency use.
