Hahaha ok.

I'm leaning towards seam welding.
Why?
Well, I got a Prodrive prepared rally shell, and they used seam welds.
And somehow I think these guys know what they are doing.

Other than that I got no pro's or con's.

I took some pics of the car in it's current state, with the last renewed parts.
Coming Teusday the Ford Escort fenders will be at the shop if all goes well.
Then Bert can weld those in.

I think the car is 80 maybe even 90% rust free now, depends on what we find when cleaning the bottom.

Seems they are going to look nice, it does have the original shape of the Hachi, but a fraction wider:

Ok, some time has gone since the last update.
There's good and bad news.

The good:

Engine and gearbox are out!








Good & bad:

The welder put one of the rear arches on, but not to my liking, it's crooked.








The bad:

While driving my white daily today, the spring holder broke off due to rust.

AHAHAHAHAHA! FAIL! XD.... ask your welder to help you out with that, disassemble the shock then weld the spring plate back. it should be fine until you get something else!

also if you need, i can help you out with fiberglass rear flares.

Aram you should have used the REAR arches of the Escort, not the front ones...

It was quite a weird experience, unexpected too hahaha.
I haven't seen this happen yet to this model, but I guess there always should be someone the first. :-)

The arches I want in steel, but there are some parts from you that I'm interested in.
I will contact you when I'm ready for them. ;-)

These fronts are a little bit wider. :-)
This fender was put on wrong by the welder, he didn't pay attention.
Ohh well, nothings lost yet! :-)
