Good to see the car back on track. How does it feel to drive the 16v again? Better than the 20v? Smile

So, last friday was trackday. Once again the hachi and the 16V rocked the circuit. Had no problems what so ever with the car. Did a few laps behind different S2000's without loosing on them! So yes, I'm quite satisfied. Nevertheless I might sell and build a new project for the next season

enjoy some pics of the day:

Did you have ever see surgeons without mask ?
For me, air filter for an engine is exactly the same thing than this. Confused

Normally there's a filter on it! Take a look at the pic. But when working on the car, I had to remove it.

When I drive on open roads, there is even an airbox fitted.

So let’s keep the built of this up to date. Decided to build a new engine, a 7AGE. After lot's of reading and searching I just pulled the 4AGE out of my AE86 because I’ll need lots of parts from it to get the 7AGE done.
To start with, here’s the 7AFE from a 90’s Carina:

Not that much is needed for the build. Engine block, crank, flywheel and some minor bits. Here’s the block re-bored to 81.5mm and ready to receive a bit of paint.

Some more parts. Lightened and balanced crank, forged rods, ARP bolts, Wiseco 4AGE pistons, new oil pump, new bearings,…

Crank, rods and pistons mounted

7AFE oil pan. Slightly larger than the 4AGE pan

To avoid oil accumulation in the cylinder head I fabricated an oil return line. Just like on the smallport engines.

New OEM head bolts to mount the head

And than started with the timing of the new camshafts. Chose some Kelford. 282 / 278 deg with T3 adjustable pulleys.

Took me quite some time to get them spot on the timing specs provided by Kelford.

New engine, new valve covers. Before:
